Which resort, how far?
From the airport, the road follows the Var valley inland, then climbs up the Tinée valley (Isola 2000, Auron) or through the Cians gorges (Valberg). Indicative distances and times, outside heavy snowfall:
| Resort | Distance | Journey | Fare, daytime |
|---|---|---|---|
| Isola 2000 | … | … | see the calculator |
| Auron | … | … | see the calculator |
| Valberg | … | … | see the calculator |
Fares come from a published scale: €10 pick-up charge, then €1.50 per km in the Alpes-Maritimes (06), €2.50 per km in the Var (83) and €1.80 per km in Fréjus and Saint-Raphaël. They are for the whole car, up to 4 passengers. A 20 % surcharge applies from 9 pm to 7 am, on Sundays and public holidays. Winter conditions can lengthen the journey: your driver will tell you if the timing needs to change.
Winter roads: what French law requires
Under the French mountain law (loi Montagne), vehicles must carry winter equipment, either winter tyres or snow chains or socks, from 1 November to 31 March in the mountain municipalities listed by prefectoral order, which include the ski resorts of the Alpes-Maritimes. Your transfer is planned with this in mind. On days of heavy snow, the roads to the resorts can be temporarily restricted: keep your phone on and follow your driver's advice.
Skis, boots and luggage
The car takes up to 4 passengers and 4 suitcases. Skis, snowboards and boot bags take extra space: say exactly what you bring when you book (number of pairs of skis, ski bags, child seat). For a large group with a lot of equipment, a second vehicle can be arranged with a trusted fellow driver.
Planning your arrival and departure
- Saturday changeovers are the busiest days in the valleys: book early for school holidays.
- Late flights: your flight is tracked, but arriving at a resort late at night on mountain roads takes longer. Allow for it in your check-in plans.
- Return to Nice: leave enough margin before your flight, especially after a snowfall.
- Accommodation: give the residence name and access instructions; some chalets cannot be reached directly by car in winter.
How to book
Send your flight number, the resort and residence, the number of passengers and pieces of equipment by WhatsApp or email. Sébastien, a French driver who drives every booking himself, confirms the price in writing. English messages are welcome. Day trips from the coast
Staying in Nice, Cannes or Monaco and dreaming of a day on the slopes? It is one of the special pleasures of the Riviera in winter. A driver can take you to the resort in the morning and bring you back in the evening, so nobody has to drive on mountain roads after a day of skiing. Ask for a quote for a return trip or an hourly booking.
Arriving by train
If you arrive by train at Nice-Ville station instead of the airport, the transfer works the same way: your driver meets you at the station and drives you up to the resort.
