Official taxi fares from Nice airport
Taxis at Nice Côte d'Azur airport apply fixed fares set by the prefecture for the main destinations. The airport publishes them on its taxis page. The ranks are on the arrivals level: gate A1 at Terminal 1, gate A3 at Terminal 2. Official taxis only pick up passengers at these ranks.
Destination by destination
| From Nice airport to | Official taxi fixed fare (2026) | Private driver, daytime | Private driver, night |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nice centre | €32 | €50 minimum fare | Minimum fare + 20 % |
| Antibes, Port Vauban | €72 | €53 | €63 |
| Cannes, Palais des Festivals | €85 | €57 | €67 |
| Monaco, Place du Casino | €95 | €61 | €73 |
Private driver fares come from a published scale (€10 pick-up, then €1.50 per km in the Alpes-Maritimes (06), €2.50 per km in the Var (83) and €1.80 per km in Fréjus and Saint-Raphaël, tolls included) and apply to the whole car, up to 4 passengers. The night surcharge applies from 9 pm to 7 am, and on Sundays and public holidays. Check the airport website for the conditions that apply to taxi fixed fares.
Where the taxi wins
Central Nice: the trip is short and the taxi fixed fare (€32) is below our €50 minimum fare. If you are staying in the city centre and have not booked anything, the taxi rank or tram line 2 are the logical choices. We prefer to say so clearly.
No booking at all: a taxi can be taken at the rank without notice. A French private driver (VTC) must, by law, be booked in advance.
Where the private driver makes sense
- Cannes, Antibes, Monaco and beyond: on these trips, the daytime private driver fare is lower than the taxi fixed fare.
- Delayed or late flights: your flight is tracked and your driver waits for you in the arrivals hall, without queuing at the rank.
- Destinations without a fixed taxi fare: Saint-Tropez, Sophia Antipolis, ski resorts or villages inland. The price is known before you travel.
- Return trips: the same driver can take you back to the airport on departure day.
How to choose in 30 seconds
- Staying in central Nice, travelling light: tram or taxi.
- Going to Antibes, Cannes or Monaco: compare the table above, the private driver is generally cheaper during the day.
- Landing late, travelling with family or for business: book a private driver for peace of mind.

What both have in common
Taxis and private drivers (VTC) are both regulated professions in France. Taxi drivers and VTC drivers each hold a professional card, and both vehicles are insured for passenger transport. The difference is mainly in how you book and how the price is set: a taxi can be hailed or taken at the rank, with a meter or a fixed fare; a VTC must be booked in advance, with a price agreed before the ride.
Luggage, children and groups
Whatever the option, a standard car carries up to 4 passengers. With a private driver, you state in advance the number of suitcases, a child seat or oversized items, so the car is ready when you land. For larger groups, several vehicles can be coordinated.
